To commemorate their Ruby Jubilee year, or 40th anniversary, this year, Ateneo High School Class 1978 has embarked on a fundraising campaign to raise at least Php 3.5 million for a new chapel in the Ateneo for use primarily by Senior High School students, numbering 1,711.

In a Memorandum of Agreement signed with Father President Jett Villarin SJ at the Xavier Hall Boardroom on14 September 2018, AHS 78 pledges to raise the amount and hand it over as a donation from the Ateneo High School 1978 Foundation Inc hopefully during the Ateneo Alumni Homecoming on 8 December 2018.

In the planning stage is the construction of the chapel to start in 2019. The AHS 78 donation will be for the pews for from 120 to 150 students, or from 3 to 4 classes, and other basic fixtures in the interior of the chapel.  The fund raised over the target will go to meeting the other needs of the chapel, and, if there are more excess funds, augment the Ateneo High School 1978 Scholarship Fund for the High School, established by the Ateneo High School 1978 Foundation Inc on the occasion of their Silver Jubilee year, or 25th anniversary, in 2003.  The scholarship fund supports the full tuition and fees of one Ateneo High School student from Grades 7 to 12.
