Technology giant Samsung Electronics Corporation is taking a critical initiative in education by providing 7 full scholarships to exemplary Ateneans.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the partnership of Ateneo and Samsung was signed recently by Fr Jett Villarin SJ, President of the Ateneo de Manila University and Chung Lyong Lee, President of Samsung Electronic Philippines Corp.
Through the “Samsung Liyab Scholarship Program,” Samsung agrees to finance the education of 7 Ateneans -- Kathryn Mapacpac, Anna Melgar, April Guevarra, Alexandra Anigan, Kim Vidal, Sergius Santos, and Rendell Sanchez.
Mary Anne Felipe, Head of Human Resources and General Affairs at Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation, said that Samsung advocates education as a foundation of a bright future.
“The entire Samsung community believes that by providing educational aid to our people, we can help them create their future. Our vision also in Samsung is “Inspire the World, Create the Future” and that’s the reason why we would want to invest in this partnership. We chose Ateneo because we believe that Ateneo is one of the best educational institutions in the country,” Felipe said.
She added, “We sincerely hope that in inspiring you to create your bright future, you will also, someday, inspire other people.”
